Instructions:

# Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with non-stick foil.

# Place the unsweetened chocolate squares and butter in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until the butter is melted. Remove from the microwave and stir until the chocolate is completely melted and incorporated.

# Stir in the sugar until well combined.

# Add the eggs and vanilla, stirring to combine.

# Add the flour and stir to incorporate. Stir in the chopped walnuts.

# Spread into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until just set. Test for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of the brownies. The toothpick should come out sticky, but not runny. Do not overbake.

# Cool completely on a wire rack. In the meantime, prepare the hot fudge sauce.

# Combine the sugar, cocoa powder, malted milk powder, whipping cream, and corn syrup in a heavy saucepan. Stir over low heat until the sugar is dissolved. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring constantly, for 4 minutes.

# Remove from the heat, then stir in the butter and vanilla extract.

# Cut the brownies into squares.

# Place each brownie on a serving plate, then top with a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of the hot fudge sauce.

# Finish with any or all of your favorite toppings such as chopped nuts, sprinkles, chocolate curls, and, of course, a maraschino cherry on top.

# Enjoy immediately.
