D-8 FMs hold informal meeting in NY
Foreign Ministers of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation held an informal meeting to review activities in New York.

New York, SAEDNEWS: The meeting, chaired by Bangladesh, was held on Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly and the attendees exchanged views on the activities of the organization.

D-8, also known and Developing-8, is an international organization consisting of eight developing Muslim countries, namely Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey. The organization aims to establish sustainable ties between developing Muslim countries.

Bangladesh foreign minster gave a report on the activities and achievements of the organization.

Reza Najafi, a senior official in Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who attended the meeting on behalf of Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, underscored Iran’s continuous support of the organization in the new administration.

He also highlighted the importance of making a transition in the D-8 Group, making its members even more active in trade, industry, communications, agriculture, and food security.

The foreign ministers of the D-8 Group are set to hold a formal meeting on October 7 in Istanbul, Turkey, followed by another meeting on tourism due to be held on October 20-22 in Islamabad, Pakistan (Source: IRNA).
