Deir Mar Antonios Qozhaya, Kadisha Valley, Lebanon
The working monastery of Deir Mar Antonios Qozhaya is in the northern section of the Qadisha valley between the villages of Hawqa and Ehden and accessible by car. It was the Maronite see in the 12th century and has been in use ever since.

Staying at Deir Mar Antonios Qozhaya, a monastery in the Qadisha Valley, is one of the most authentic experiences you can have in the region. You don’t stay in the actual monastery itself, but in a guest house next to the main building. The accommodation is simple but comfortable – en suite bathrooms and air conditioning all come as standard, but there are no mod cons like hair dryers, toiletries, or Wifi. The point of staying here for a night or two is to be in the heart of the relaxing, calm atmosphere and understand what it’s like for the monks who have resided in the monasteries for centuries.
