Dome of Sulaiman, Al Quds Al Sharif, Palestine
The Dome of Sulaiman is a structure located in the northern part of Masjid al-Aqsa. It was originally built during the Ummayyad era.

It was rebuilt and renovated during the Ayyubi era. It is similar in characteristics to the Dome of Ascension. Some people say it was named in tribute to Prophet Sulaiman, while others believe it was named after it’s original founder, the Ummayyad Caliph Sulaiman bin Abdul Malik. The dome is octagonal and based on 24 marble columns. A small rock is displayed inside, believed to be a piece taken from the Rock of Ascension, which is why it was protected by an iron fence in the past. Today the building is used as headquarters for female preachers in the Jerusalem Waqf Directorate (Source: Islamic Landmarks).
