Everybody Should Vote, Iran’s President Says
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called on all people to vote in the upcoming presidential election, advising the candidates to refrain from downplaying the achievements of his administration gained under the pressure of sanctions and economic war.

Tehran, SAEDNEWS: Addressing a Sunday meeting of the Administration’s Economic Coordination Headquarters, Rouhani invited all Iranian eligible voters to take part in the June 18 presidential election.

However, he added, the votes and achievements of people should not be offended.

Pointing to the criticism that has been leveled at his administration in the televised electoral debates, the president said it is a national duty to defend the great achievements gained under the enemy’s maximum pressure and economic war.

“The denial of the administration’s clear achievements in the fight against the economic sanctions and the coronavirus is the strategy of the opponents of Iran,” the president noted.

Rouhani further highlighted his administration’s battle with the cruel sanctions, saying a great deal of effort has been made by the Central Bank of Iran to ease the import of agricultural inputs.

He also pointed to the arrangements to develop homegrown vaccines for the coronavirus, saying realistic plans and coordination among various sectors have allowed for the production of vaccine inside the country.

Iran has already granted emergency use authorization to Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine, Covaxin made by India’s Bharat Biotech, Oxford/AstraZeneca developed by Russia’s R-Pharm Group, and the AstraZeneca-SKBio made in South Korea.

More than 4.3 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine in Iran, as the death toll and the cases admitted to the hospital have been on the decline in recent days (Source: Tasnim).
