Iran and Pakistan Resolute to Advance Cooperation in Naval Fields
Iranian and Pakistani Navy forces will continue to cooperate to strengthen security on the sea, an Iranian commander said on Saturday.

Tehran, SAEDNEWS: “Tehran and Islamabad continue their naval cooperation to support maritime security,” Commander of Iranian Army's first zone Rear-Admiral Jaafar Tazakkor said while a Pakistani flotilla was docking in Bandar Abbas, Southern Iran.

“Iran and Pakistan have enjoyed maritime cooperation since the past,” Tazakkor said.

He added that the two Navies will stage a joint maneuver at the end of the expedition.

The commander noted that such travels will boost interactions and have positive impacts on security of the ships and sea trade.

He said that the Pakistani flotilla will stay in Iran for four days, adding that it carries a message of peace, solidarity and friendship for Iran and the region.

In a relevant event on February 12, an Iranian delegation to the Aman-2021 multinational naval exercise hosted by Pakistan, Flotilla Admiral Aria Shafaqat Roudsari, and Iran’s military attaché to Islamabad Colonel Mostafa Qanbarpour held talks with Pakistan Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Naveed Ashraf in the port of Karachi.

The two sides highlighted promotion of maritime cooperation, especially through holding joint drills.

Naveed Ashraf hailed the important participation of the Iranian military delegation in the seventh edition of the Aman-2021 maritime exercise.

Organized under the slogan, 'Together for Peace,' Pakistan Navy said the week-long drills are aimed at displaying united resolve against terrorism and crimes in maritime domain, contributing towards regional peace and stability and enhancing interoperability between regional and extra regional navies. Naval forces from 45 countries have taken part in the collaborative drills.

The Iranian military delegation, comprising of the naval forces of the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), has also participated in the multinational event.

In a message to the opening ceremony of the exercise, Chief of Pakistan’s Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Amjad Khan Niazi said his country’s Navy has taken several initiatives for maritime security and promotion of peace in regional waters (Source: Fars News).
