Iran Calls for Immediate Uplifting of Banking Embargos, IRI Gov. Spox Says
Iranian Government Spokesman Ali Rabiyee said that the country expects the new government in the US to free Iran’s frozen foreign currency resources and remove sanctions on the banking sector immediately.

Tehran, SAEDNEWS, Jan. 26: “Given the change in the US government and empowerment of a government that claims that it, at least, is not against science unlike the previous government and claims that it will act well in fight against the coronavirus pandemic, they are expected to free the transfer of foreign exchange resources belonging to Iran for our campaign against the coronavirus and for the enhancement of health and food supply,” Rabiyee told reporters in a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday.

He also added that Iran expects Washington to quickly end sanctions on the banking sector to link foreign exchange resources.

Asked about media claims on contacts between the Iranian officials and Biden’s team, he said, “We have not had any talks or contacts with the new US administration so far. We look forward to the official position of the US government on how it will return to its undertakings and lift illegal sanctions as an inseparable part of these undertakings.”

"At the moment, there are no plans to negotiate with the US, and any progress in this regard will depend on the practical steps taken by the US to revive its undertakings under Resolution 2231," Rabiyee said.

He noted that Washington will not have time forever, and said, “The window of opportunity is open for a very limited time not only for the US but also for the European members of the nuclear deal.”

Meantime, the spokesman underlined that the warmongers of the former US administration and their allies failed in imposing a new war on Iran after Tehran pursued the economy of resistance and development of its infrastructures under sanctions.

“Iran's trading partners have changed their views after the failure of Trump's economic war and the country's economic relations are entering a new stage,” Rabiyee said (Source: Fars News).
