Miankaleh is one of the natural treasures of Iran. Home to countless species of wildlife, this peninsula presents a different perspective of the country.

Miankaleh Wetland is registered in the list of natural reservoir of the biosphere and with more than 100 thousand acres area is considered to be one of the most important and valuable habitats of water and land birds. Peninsula lands are composed of coastal sand, marshal lands, ponds, forest quagmires with tamarisk shrubs, pomegranate forests, raspberry shrubs and low lands. Miankaleh Peninsula is the only part of Caspian Sea that half of which is still covered with trees. It is of almost 70 thousand acres area and is located at the southeastern end of the sea and 12 kilometers of north of Behshahr. With a unique wildlife, this region is considered to be the land of the wild horses and migratory birds. Moreover, this peninsula is home to ethnic birds including partridge, francolinus, little bustard as well as animals like wolf, fox, wild cat, rabbit and bore. Spring is the best season for travelling to Miankaleh and taking pleasure of its desirable weather.
