Shahr-i Sukhteh Museum, Zabol, Sistan va Baluchestan Province
Shahr-i Sukhteh is an ancient metropolis with a long history of five thousand years. Formation of this city goes back to the Bronze Age. This highly important prehistoric region is located in the southeast of Zabol and is sixty kilometers far from it.

It is six kilometers away from another historic monument, Qaleh Rostam, which is considered as one of the most advanced cities of the ancient world, located in the west of the Zobol-Zahedan route. In 2014 Qaleh Rostam was registered as one of the world heritage sites by UNESCO. The remaining of Shahr-i Sukhteh spread in a land as big as two hundred and eighty hectares. The Shahr-i Sukhteh museum, fifty-six kilometers far from Zabol and Zahedan, is a specialized museum that was opened in 2013 in an area about twenty hectares located in front of the site. It includes offices, research departments, one greeting room, one show room, a library and the museum itself. Many artifacts from Kerman, Sistan and Baluchestan and South Khorasan can be found in this local establishment.

The museum has three different fields. In the field of archeology, information about Shahr-e Shukhteh and ancient sites of Mount Khajeh, Espidezh fortress, Jiroft, south of Khorasan and also other ancient sits from southeast of Iran are gathered and provided to the visitors. Many artifacts found in Shahr-e Sukhteh, such as beads, potteries, stone tools, graves that have been remade and displayed as a sample of their kind and some figurines are on display and available to both the scholars and people who are eager to learn more about the culture of this historic place.

In the field of anthropology, subjects like oral literature, the renowned people, culture, traditions, clothing, eating habits and handicrafts of Sistan and Baluchestan, Kerman and Khorasan are represented. The ecology of Sistan and Baluchestan and the eastern region of Iran is exhibited on the ground level of the building. For this purpose, many vitrines have been installed that include taxidermied species of animals and plants of this area. In addition, there is a large aquarium in the museum to present the marine life of salt water of this province. This part is considered very attractive for children and young ones. To add to the beauty of the museum, the area around the building, about three hectares, has been transformed by landscaping. A suite of twenty gazeboes, public roofed parking, park, playground, sports facilities and public services have been set up to accommodate the visitors.
