The Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Mosque
The Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Mosque is Terengganu’s State Mosque and the modern royal mosque of Terengganu, Malaysia.

This mosque also known as Masjid Ladang. It is located at Kampung Ladang, Kuala Terengganu. Construction of the mosque began in the 2nd May 1981 and the mosque was completed on 2nd November 1984. The stone foundation of this mosque was laid by Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, the Minister of Finance at that time. The land was originally a land for public hall and cemetery of Hospital Kuala Terengganu.
This mosque applies a modern concept based on local Malay design and characteristics. The architecture of the mosque resembles middle-eastern type of mosques especially the flat roof architecture. The calligraphy and carvings on the minbar were produced by Balai Seni Ukir Wan Su from Besut, Terengganu. Apart from being a comfortable and nice place to perform prayers, the mosque also holds historical value as it is the site for a Royal Mausoleum. It holds the tomb of the 15th Sultan of Terengganu, Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah. The tomb resides next to the mihrab of the mosque. The late His Royal Highness was buried on Friday, 15th May 1998.
