Zarif Calls for Sanctions Lift as a Legal and Moral Obligation
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message reiterated the fact that lifting sanctions by the US is a legal and moral obligation not negotiating leverage.

"Lifting Trump's sanctions, @SecBlinken, is a legal & moral obligation. NOT negotiating leverage," Zarif wrote in his Twitter account on Monday.

"Didn’t work for Trump—won't work for you," he added.

"Release the Iranian people’s $Billions held hostage abroad due to US bullying Trump's legacy is past its expiration date. Drop it, @POTUS," he noted.

Earlier in a phone call with EU's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, Zarif said that the continuation of the sanctions against Iran should not be applied by the US administration as a negotiation tool.

The fundamental change of the approach, as a prerequisite for making Vienna talks successful, is the political decision that the US president must make to this end, he stated.
